Are you going to Decibel 2015? You should be. There’s no excuse! Not only are there going to be some of the hottest music acts around, there will be movie workshops, zombies and celebrities.
A staple of Trinidad and Tobago’s entertainment scene since 2001, Decibel is the place to be if you want to find out what’s next in the world of music and film.
The networking opportunities are out of this world, too. Music mavens, film executives and entertainment luminaries from Hollywood and the rest of the world will be on hand for mingling and one-on-one coaching sessions.
So whether you want to be the next big thing or don’t want to be left out on who is the next big thing, here’s why the coolest people in T&T will be at Decibel 2015.
It’s Free (for Students)
When you register through your secondary or tertiary school, you can get into Decibel for free. If you are not a student, or if you are a student but don’t register in advance, tickets are $100. But with all the exhibits and celebrity guests and fantastic music, dance, film and design contacts milling about, you can’t pass up a chance to be there. Want to bring your little brother or sister? Kids under 12 get in free.
You Can Get a Head Start in The Business
Maybe you have always wanted to be a director. Or an actress. Or a talent manager. Whatever your dream, it always starts with networking and working your way to the top.
And Decibel 2015 will feature chances to hobnob with the best of the best in the entertainment world. Trinidad’s own Oliver Milne, now an independent filmmaker, started pursuing his dream at 12 years old and made his first short film at 15.
Ever think about what it takes to make all those zombies come to “life”? Decibel 2015 is the place to be. There will be a cinema makeup workshop, with a detailed breakdown of how to create a zombie and how movie makeup really works. Which brings us to…
Chick-V vaccine experiments went off the rails and now these mutated test subjects will be roaming. You think you have what it takes to get through this miniature theme park of the undead? Enter and engage with these creatures…if you dare. Take a selfie at your own risk!
The Radio Evolution
Think radio’s dead? Think again. If you are a music fan and looking for a way to work in that industry, Slam 100.5 stars will be on hand to talk about how their business is changing with the times.
DJs interacting on social media, stations streaming on the Internet and radio shows simulcast on television are just some of the ways radio is making its way into the digital world. Radio still breaks artists, so don’t get left behind by tuning out.
The future is now. A 3-D-printing pen that draws in the air? Oh yeah, Decibel 2015 has that, too! This futuristic mini-machine will have a booth at the expo, along with other futuristic items that will knock your socks off. Check it out — you won’t be disappointed!
Decibel is one of those shows that everyone talks about for months after it happens, so don’t get left behind! Stay in the know and attend Decibel this year. You’ll be glad you did.
